What is Dream Therapy and Why is it important?

Jung uses dreams to explore the unconscious mind, aiming for a greater self-awareness and integration through metaphorical interpretation. What does this mean?

During our sleep we go through different stages of the sleep cycle the Non-Rem cycles which are from stage 1 in between wake and sleep Stage 2 asleep and Stage 3 Deep Sleep and then REM.

Stage 3 Deep Sleep is super important for the body to be able to heal itself. This is when everything is resting accept for the trash disposals and healing soldiers that are running around healing the body and removing toxins.Where as REM is where we dream this is when our brains are not in deep sleep but slightly awake it is closely associated to Theta brainwave which is also where the brain goes when meditating.

Carl Jung defines dreams as vital, spontaneous messages from the the unconscious providing insights into oneself and guiding the process of psychological wholeness or individuality.

Why is it important for us to dream?

Dreaming allows us to sort through our emotions, issues, problem solves, gives you solutions to potential threats in your life and also it connects to you and it’s a great way to get to know self.

How would you feel if you didn’t dream?Would you be able to get through day to day activities?

Well, Jung says that it is one’s lack of interest in self and an unwillingness to engage with one’s conscious problems.Perhaps you are not getting to the state of sleep that will bring out the dreams, like a light sleeper. If this is the case then you will need to see a sleep specialists and figure out why.

We do dream and at time we don’t remember what the dream is about, so learn to anticipate and keep a dream journal near your bed, especially if you want to see if there is a pattern with your dreams or if you had a bad day and your dream is a solution to your bad day.

Can dreams help heal our Trauma?

With trauma our dreams may in effect, become nightmares or night terrors where your mind is trying to make sense of this whilst it wasn’t fully processed during waking hours.Believe it or not, it’s your brain beginning to work through it.

Has it ever occurred to you that, you can change the directory of your dream?

At times in my dream state, I have had a disturbing dream but was able to change the outcome, you can imagine I was very fascinated by this, so I looked it up and it came up with Lucid Dreaming.

What Is Lucid Dreaming?

Have you ever wondered, if you can be a spectator in your own dream?Of course, that is what Lucid Dreaming is about. It’s more about being able to influence or control your dreams.

I want you to become aware, that by doing this you will need to be self-aware which will ignite your critical thinking and all this during your REM cycle.Get this, meditation helps you to gain the skills to be able to be self-aware so that you can influence and control your dreams.

During my dreams if by some reason it feels as though I’m being chased, I try and run but for some reason I’m not fast in fact I’m slow and sluggish however when I realise this I let myself know that I can run backwards and when I do this, I run faster!

Now, the most common understanding for running in dreams is that you’re trying to run away from something and we all know that we can’t run away from our problems because they will soon catch up to you. So I trained myself for when I get these types of dreams to recognise it and stop and turn around and face what is chasing me. By doing this you become aware of your issue and this is a good way for you to deal with problems.

I once had a client that wanted to be hypnotised to be able to bring on a Lucid Dream, which can be done and from a complete relaxed state is where I can follow them during this dream and if they become upset then we could work together to explore and shape the dream.By having someone like me, guiding you though your dreams you will be able to unlock your limiting beliefs and face the fear that’s holding you back.

How would you feel if you could take charge of your dreams?

Let’s Look At Vivid Dreams

I have had dreams where they felt so real, that the next morning I would have to check my reality and see if it was a dream or a memory, it was so vivid that it feels as though you are living it.

I journal all my vivid dreams mainly so that I can see a correlation of when I had a vivid dream and what happened that day, meaning was I highly stressed that day? And did something trigger a negative event?, Here’s the thing when you Google vivid dreaming it comes across as a negative event that has triggered this dream and more commonly it is.

However, what if I tell you it could also be a sign that you’re connecting to your intuitive side or receiving messages from your spirits that want to connect with you.Get this, when you have a viivid dream most of the time you will remember it so write it down and then get clarity of what the dream is about.

I See Dead People

Have you ever watched the movie “The Sixth Sense”? If you haven’t then you may want to skip this paragraph - Spoiler Alert! I’m paraphrasing but when the young boy tells the spirit it’s best to communicate with your wife whilst she’s dreaming, there is fact behind that.

When you are sleeping and dreaming your subconscious is more at play than any other part of your brain, this is when you are relaxed enough to receive the message from your passed loved ones and messages from your spirit guides. If you haven’t noticed that you are guided by your spirit guides then it’s best for you to begin your practice to connect with them they are apart of your life. It can be done with meditation, free-writing and through a psychic.

Let me tell you it can come in very handy, have you ever slept through your alarm in the morning?I have or for some reason I’ve fallen asleep and didn’t set my alarm. Here’s the thing, on days that this happens which isn’t often, during my dream I hear my name called “Jeannette” which usually wakes me up as it’s really not part of my dreams most of the time, get this when I hear my name and wake it’s usually at the same time as my alarm was suppose to be on.Once I’ve woken and figured out what I’m doing, I will always thank my guides for watching over me.

Always be grateful for any help you may have received from your spiritual team, they are there so acknowledge their help.

Perhaps there is a dream that has or is bothering you, follow these three steps:

  1. Write it down - journal everything that you remember, if there is another dream that connects with the initial dream write it down and see what story is being displayed in front of you.

  2. Look for signs - within a dream there is always something that stands out, the one thing that stays on your mind for the day.

  3. Ask your guides to make it clearer for you - they are the ones that sent you that message if you don’t understand it ask them to make it clearer for you to investigate it further.
